Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel will develop a busy government agenda on Monday in the central city of Cienfuegos, the venue for the main event on the National Rebellion Day.
The president wrote on his Twitter profile that he will visit neighborhoods and productive, cultural and educational centers, where he will meet with the population.
¡Buen día, #Cuba! 🇨🇺
Vamos camino a la bellísima #Cienfuegos. Visitaremos barrios, centros productivos, culturales y educativos.
He noted that he will also visit the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes thermoelectric plant, which is in that province and is one of the most efficient and stable in Cuba, which is currently going through a tense situation in power generation.
Cuba celebrates the National Rebellion Day every year on July 26, the date in 1953 when the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, led a group of combatants to attack the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks in eastern Santiago de Cuba.
Although the military actions were not successful, they were the genesis of the revolutionary movement called July 26, which years later would undertake the armed struggle to overthrow the Fulgencio Batista tyranny.
