Cuba reports 937 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 5 deaths

Cuba reported at the end of this Monday, February 15,  937 new cases of COVID-19, for an accumulated of 39,941 positives since March 2020 and 5 deaths, reported this Monday, Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), in its usual press conference.

“Today was a day with unfavorable indicators, which are not what we are working for. We will continue to adopt new measures that allow us to reverse this situation, «he said.

On Monday, 16,274 samples were processed for the diagnosis of COVID-19 in the 21 laboratories of the country, of which 937 were positive. The country woke up this Tuesday with 18,100 patients admitted: 3,051 suspects, 10,054 under surveillance and 4,895 confirmed cases (active cases).

Out of the 937 new cases, a total of 904 are result of local transmission, while 33 imported ones were reported. Of the total, 840 (88, 04%) were contacts of confirmed cases.

By age groups, Dr. Francisco Duran pointed out that there are a total of 137 under 20 years of age with the disease. Of them, 105 were pediatric and 9 were under 1 year of age.

From 20 to 39 years of age, they add up to a total of 299, while from 40 to 59 years, 329 and in the group with the highest risk (over 60 years), 172 positive cases.

Francisco Duran stressed that the number of local transmission cases is alarming, as part of the transmission established in almost the entire country.
