Cuba reports 659 positive cases of COVID-19

Cuba reported on January 28, 11,304 patients were admitted for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 4,187 suspects, 2,225 under surveillance and 4,892 confirmed.

For COVID-19, 13,903 samples were studied, resulting in 659 positive samples. The country accumulates 1  851 950 samples made and 24 764 positive.

Out of the total number of cases (659): 582 were contacts of confirmed cases; 36 with a source of infection abroad; on day 41 without a specified source of infection. Of the 659 diagnosed cases, 356 were female and 303 male.

41.9% (276) of the 659 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 14,085, representing 56.9% of those confirmed to date.

Out of the total cases of the day, 55 are linked to international travelers. The 659 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years: 89; 20 to 39 years: 207; from 40 to 59 years: 233; and more than 60: 130 cases.

Out of the 24,764 patients diagnosed with the disease, 4,892, 4,853 with stable clinical evolution remain hospitalized. 210 deaths are reported (two in the day), two evacuated, 47 returned to their countries, 563 discharges of the day, 19 thousand 613 recovered patients accumulate (79.1%). 39 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, 18 of them critical and 21 severe.
