The Simon Bolivar School Ship belonging to the Navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela arrived on Wednesday at Olimpia Medina Pier, in the Port of Cienfuegos, where it will remain moored until Sunday 26.
During the official visit to the Port, the population will be able to access the ship, on Friday and Saturday, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The members of the Ship will visit places of historic interest and participate in cultural activities. On May 25 at 9:00 a.m. Cienfuegos citizens will have the possibility of attending the 5 de Septiembre Stadium to witness a softball encounter that will friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela.
AB Simon Bolivar (BE-11), also known as ¨El Embajador Sin Fronteras¨, is the school ship of the Venezuelan Navy. Its fundamental mission is to train the cadets of the Naval School of Venezuela and the aspect of its international mission is to invigorate and project the naval image of Venezuela, as well as to establish and strengthen friendly ties with the navies of other countries.
Its type is three-masted brigantine, with length 82.4 meters with bowsprit, the sleeve of 10.6 meters and the draft of 4.4 meters for a maximum speed of 10 knots. It was built at the request of the Navy of Venezuela in 1978, launched into the water on November 21, 1979, and its National Pavilion was signed on August 12, 1980.
