Political authorities in Cienfuegos, children, youth and people in general paid tribute to Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriaran on October 28, on the sixtieth anniversary of his physical disappearance.
From the intersection of streets 37 and 44, in the provincial capital, in the morning hours the population paraded to the vicinity of the Cienfuegos seawall, to throw hundreds of flowers in the sea in remembrance of the ¨Heroe de Yaguajay¨ (Hero of Yaguajay).
There, and as part of the solemn ceremony, a wreath was deposited in frank proof that the ¨Señor de la Vanguardia¨ (Lord of the Vanguard) is still among us today, more alive than ever, in the ideals and continuity of the Cuban Revolution.
Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriaran was born in Lawton, Havana; on February 6, 1932 and physically disappeared on October 28, 1959. He was promoted to Commander on April 16, 1958 and promoted to head of Column 2 Antonio Maceo.
