Diaz-Canel advocates applying science to the sugar industry

In a meeting with representatives of the Azcuba enterprise group, the president learned about the development program and the difficulties that must be overcome to increase the production of sugar and its derivatives, local newspaper Granma reported.

During the meeting, Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Perez, presented recommendations to improve results in the sector.

Officials agreed to carry out a workshop in October to boost the sugar industry and its link with national industry, the report added. Diaz-Canel called to identify where scientific research and new technologies can be applied, as well as structures that allow industry innovation.

Meanwhile, authorities in the province of Granma reported on the work done there to preserve documentary heritage.

In addition, executives of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television presented the work carried out to encourage actions to combat climate change, increasing the awareness of the population in this regard and promoting a water saving culture.

They mentioned informative and documentary programs that contribute to the awareness of climate change, as a priority in television and radio programming.
