The Cuban president, who heads the second government visit Thursday and Friday in Cienfuegos, pondered the fact that this cattle raising enterprise works to consolidate an animal feed producer factory, with a drying tunnel of 13 tons, three production lines and increase in areas.
The Cuban president also highlighted, among the merits verified here, the work and scientific exchange with Cienfuegos University, the export of charcoal, the insertion of the entity into the business improvement system and the positive integral image of it.
Abel Alvarez Leon, general director of enterprise, explained that they strengthened a systematic link with the University of Cienfuegos, with the signing of agreements and almost a decade of scientific exchange. He added that in 2019 they started exporting charcoal, with 20 tons, a line that this year aims to increase between 240 and 300 tons.
He noted that an investment process takes place here that includes the installation of 16 mechanical milking systems and seven solar panels (both aspects were recognized by Diaz-Canel), the recovery of 14 dairy farms and the acquisition of 18 tractors.
El Tablon Livestock Enterprise, belonging to the Livestock Business Group of the Ministry of Agriculture, produces milk, meat and various crops. They have 21 067 cattle and in 2019 they sold 5,332,757 liters of milk to the state, with a growth of 40,300 liters compared to 2018.

Eladio Machin Coffee Processing Company – also in business improvement and with a direct link with the University of Cienfuegos and Central de Las Villas University – has a total area of 17 108, 56 hectares and has three grain pulping, and a coffee benefit plant dry, which receives all the coffee produced in the three provinces of the Guamuhaya Mountains.
Omar Bermudez Sanchez, director of the processing plant, informed that from the 171 tons for 2019 export plan,16 tons are from Crystal Mountain, the best quality coffee in the country – only cultivable here -, exported to Japan. They also execute sales to Cimex Mariel.

The Cuban President toured areas of the processing plant and exchanged with the workers, and reminded the managers and technicians of Eladio Machin that they are responsible for promoting and guaranteeing the success of the coffee development program in plain areas.
This program showed a potential of 144 hectares. As an initial year, in 2019 the area was prepared and 15 hectares planted. In the current calendar it is planned to plant another 27, to finally execute the plantations from the month of June.

Diaz –Canel stressed on the idea that Alficsa is a scheme to multiply in Cuba, and considered that we must find a way that each place in the country is looking for its development model, which could be inspired by concepts observed here, such as low energy consumption and the protection of the environment.
This distillery constitutes a paradigm of the productive chain, since its raw material is a byproduct (molasses) from the sugar production; meanwhile, the waste that comes out of the distillation process is used by nearby torula plants, destined for the production of animal feed, and that of CO2 for drinks and soft drinks, all of them located in the Antonio Sanchez sugar mill’s area.
In the Cement Factory Cienfuegos S.A., Diaz-Canel paid great attention to the explanations of his vice-general manager, Oscar Rodriguez, about the change of his energy matrix.
Together with the Commander of the Revolution and Deputy Prime Minister Ramiro Valdes Menendez, the Cuban Head of State was informed about the creation of projects for the co-processing of waste that reduce the pollutant load of the environment and substitute imports.
In this regard, it was shared around the use of out-of-use tires, recovered oils and oil sludges that work as fuel. By saving 10% petcoke per year, an estimated savings of one million dollars can be recorded.

This thermoelectric, among the most effective of its kind in the country, is expected to generate this year 1 744 090 mw / h, from its Japanese blocks, one of which was the target of recent capital repair.
