Cienfuegos´ Provincial Library offers new collections

After a three and a half year restoration process, valued at more than one million two hundred thousand pesos, the Roberto Garcia Valdes Provincial Library opens its doors to Cienfuegos residents with renewed collections in all its rooms.

Neify Castellon Vega, director of the institution, located in one of the most emblematic buildings in the city, affirmed that it constitutes a management center for knowledge, patrimonial and patriotic values, with the promotion of reading as the first social task.

Those who go to this cultural center will be able to find a diversity of titles in the ¨Rare and Valuable Funds ¨rooms, the one dedicated to children and young people, a General Literature room, as well as the one specialized in BRAILE, for people with sight disabilities.

Roberto Garcia Valdes library also has a newspaper library and a space for collections on art and music whose literature, like that of the rest of the institution, can be accessed through internal and external loans.

Among the valuable texts, recently acquired, stands out ¨Cienfuegos: La Perla de Cuba¨, a copy published on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the former Fernandina de Jagua colony and granted to the library by the Office of the City Curator.
