Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday highlighted the commitment by students and professors at the Pedagogical School in central Ciego de Avila province.
The head of State posted on Twitter his emotion during the meeting with students and teachers at the abovementioned campus.

‘Beautiful life stories that express passion for Cuba and commitment to the Cuban Revolution,’ the Cuban leader wrote.

The Latin American Personality of the Year distinction was granted to Cuban Jorge Petinaud Martinez by the Ibero-American Journalists’ Organization (OPI), sources of that union confirmed in Moscow on Thursday.
The award, which is given in the context of The Days of Russian Science, will be delivered on October 31 during an official ceremony at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

The broadcaster from Cienfuegos, Lazaro Lorenzo Rodriguez, will be distinguished this month with the Caracol 2018 Prize, in the Best Voice category, for his performance in the radio documentary “Fantasmas en la Bahia” (Bay Phantoms), produced on Radio Ciudad del Mar with script and direction of the outstanding radio director, Fabio Bosch Hernandez.

Businessmen from more than 60 countries will attend the 36th International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2018), which will be held at ExpoCuba from October 29 to November 2, it was reported.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and president of the Organizing Committee, Rodrigo Malmierca, also said that official delegations from 20 countries made up of high-level officials will attend this event, another sign that the world is with Cuba and that the blockade only isolates the United States.

Hurricane Michael, which recently affected Cuba’s westernmost tip , did not jeopardize tobacco crops, the president of the Tabacuba business group, Justo Luis Fuentes, said.
After visiting several municipalities in Pinar del Rio that were damaged by the cyclone, Fuentes expressed confidence in local tobacco growers in this province, Cuba’s largest tobacco producer.

They are working in all sites to compensate for the damage, especially in the nurseries that will provide the seeds for plantings, he said.
