A delegation from the Cuban province of Cienfuegos was received last week in Bordeaux as part of a broad program of work carried out in France, invited by the association “Cuba Cooperation”.

The meeting with the French city had a special connotation.On April 22nd, 1819 the Bordeaux citizen Louis de Clouet founded the colony of Fernandina de Jagua, which was substituted in 1829 by the name of Cienfuegos, when it became a villa and in 1880 received the title of city.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel who is already in New York for the UN General Assembly will denounce what he termed as ”US aberrant policy of blockade” imposed on Cuba for over 55 years.
‘It’s a failed policy and it will continue to fail,’ stressed the Statesman who arrived in New York for taking part for the first time at the UN General Assembly that is holding its 73rd period of sessions.

The National Assembly appointed Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh as interim president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam after the death of Tran Dai Quang two days ago.
In making the announcement, the Legislative Standing Committee indicated that Thinh will hold office until the next special plenary session in which a new head of state will be elected.

The U.S. blockade lurks today on Cuba anywhere in the world, warned the island’s diplomatic mission to the UN in a press release, in which it exposes numerous financial obstacles.
For example, on February 12, 2018, it was announced that five Indian banks refused to make a transfer from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) office in Cuba to Ankur Scientific Energy Technologies LTD because of blockade regulations.

Army General Raul Castro met Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who left on Sunday for New York to participate in the general debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
In the farewell at the International Airport ‘Jose Marti’ was also present Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, Second Secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, who is on a trip to Havana to discuss tense bilateral relations and other “matters of common interest”, state-run media reported on Thursday.

Corker, a Republican but also a frequent critic of U.S. President Donald Trump, is the highest-ranking U.S. official that Diaz-Canel has met since succeeding Raul Castro as president in April. He is due to retire from the Senate later this year.

The Cuban government is establishing some mechanisms to modernize its legislation, in the context of actions to update the island’s socio-economic model without abandoning its socialist nature, experts observe in Havana.
The constitutional reform underway represents the main path in that direction, a process that should conclude in February 2019 with a popular referendum to define the approval or not of a new Constitution, which would replace the one in force since 1976.

Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang died Friday at age 61 after a prolonged and serious illness, state media reported.

He passed away from a “serious illness despite devoted treatment by professors and doctors” both in Vietnam and abroad, the official Vietnam News Agency said.

Cuban Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, Ana Teresita Gonzalez, arrived in Poland yesterday as part of an official visit in which she will hold talks with authorities and organizations in that country, diplomatic sources reported.
Through the social network Twitter, the Cuban embassy in Poland announced that the presence in this nation of the Caribbean country’s Deputy Foreign Minister is an expression of Cuba’s interest in deepening bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation.
