Cuban Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of the Council of State, began a working visit to the Russian Federation this Monday, May 21.

Cabrisas is presiding the Cuban delegation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, to be held May 24 through 26, in this northern Russian city.

 Cuban authorities are on the investigations by the accident ocuured Friday at noon in the Cuban capital, in a place in which more than 30 legal medicine specialists are still identifying dead bodies.
Cuban Transport Minister Adel Izquierdo stated to national and foreign reporters Sunday that the specialists are intensely working on a cultivation area close to Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, in which a Boeing 737-200 hired by Cubana de Aviacion with 113 people on board, crashed down.

With nearly 68 percent of the votes, well ahead of his political rivals, incumbent president Nicolas Maduro won a second six year presidential term in Venezuela’s Sunday elections.
After the National Electoral Council (NEC) confirmed Maduro’s victory with over 5,823,728 votes, the re-elected politician called for a lasting dialogue with all the country’s opposition parties and for citizens to leave behind the strife and make way for reconciliation with all sectors of society.

Legal Medicine Specialist Jorge Gonzalez reported yesterday that 20 of the 110 fatal victims of the plane crash occurred this Friday, in the vicinity of Jose Marti International Airport, were identified.
Gonzalez told Prensa Latina that the process of recognizing the deceased is expected to be completed in the next 30 days.

Mr. President:
Once again, Cuba attends the Universal Periodic Review to ratify its firm commitment with the guarantees for the exercise of human rights.

The national report that we are presenting is the result of a broad and participatory process of consultations which involved numerous government institutions and civil society organizations, as well as the implementation of the recommendations accepted during the second review -79 per cent of all the recommendations that were formulated.

 All 34 Chilean bishops who participated in the reflection with Pope Francis about abuses submitted their resignations in writing so that the Holy Pontiff can decide freely what to do with them, representatives of the groups said here today.
The decision was announced in a press conference through a communiqué handed over by Fernando Ramos Perez, one of the seven auxiliary bishops of Santiago and secretary of the Episcopal Conference, and Juan Ignacio Gonzalez Errazuriz, bishop of San Bernardo.

On May 15, 1948, Israel, supported politically and economically by the United States, committed one of the greatest injustices against Palestine, known as Nakba (catastrophe in Arabic).

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked the Belgian government for its support, especially for the resolution on the need to end the US blockade, at the start of his visit to that European country, reported today from Brussels Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

Minister Rodriguez was received by his Belgian counterpart, Didier Reynders, and they held a meeting in which they discussed topics of common interest on current international affairs and the respective regions, and described mutual relations as positive.

The 13-year-old had hidden two pages in her diary by covering them in brown masking paper and it has now been revealed what was written underneath.

Using digital editing techniques, researchers deciphered the writing and discovered the teenager had written four ‘risque’ jokes and a candid explanation of sex, contraception and prostitution.

Israeli forces have killed at least 58 Palestinians and left 2,771 injured during mass protests against the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem, Palestinian health officials say.

The deaths include 57 adults and children who were shot and a baby who died from the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The bloodshed marks the deadliest day in the region since the 2014 Gaza war, with Israeli soldiers firing at protesters who had to flee for cover.
